Happiness Is A Green Stone

Happy Friday Lovely Gem Steadies, intern BB here! Can you believe tomorrow is the last day of August already? Lets pay tribute by introducing the August birthstone, Peridot to the Gem Steady blog. Peridot is a marvelous opaque gem that is usually green as the rolling hills of Ireland. In ancient times, Peridot was known as the stone of springtime and brought renewal to nature and people.
Peridot’s ancient powers have carried over to current day, as it is the perfect gem for those seeking change and for anyone looking to rid of old baggage. Think of Peridot as a wise older sister because it knows that living in the past is unhealthy and it always has your best interest at heart. You know that rocky breakup that haunts your brain like a wickedly catchy Miley Cyrus song? Wrap your wrists in some Peridot and begin your journey into a bright and positive future, letting go of past negativities.
You may be skeptical of how a little green gem can do something as magical as erasing a troubled past, but the answer is quite simple. Peridot is the perfect positivity promoter(my apologies for such a tongue twister) and the gem supports a very healthy way of thinking. Peridot wants to help you let go of grudges, spite and jealousy while providing a non-egotistical dose of confidence.
Peridot is fantastic for those who want to embrace the idea of self-forgiveness and forgiveness of others. Our little green gem will remind you to cut yourself a break here and there, and take past mistakes and learn from them. Don’t dwell on the bad, remove the positive pieces from negative memories and let go of the rest.
The good vibes of Peridot expand even further as it helps you realize your own flaws(especially negativity) and can help you see things in a new light. Peridot strives to help those who see the glass as half empty and with a willing soul, it can reshape our way of thinking to see how full that glass really is. Any Peridot piece will proudly make its owner aware of the beauties of life and the power of forgiveness.
I hope you enjoyed learning about the August birthstone and embrace its positive vibes!  Now tell me readers, what would you LOVE to see on the Gem Steady blog? Leave us some love and ideas in the comment box bellow!
Thank you so much for reading!

Let What You Love Be What You Do.

Hey there, Steady Gemmers. This is Coach Brit C. Thanks for checking out my second installment on the Gem Steady blog. It's good to be here. I was clicking around on Pinterest just a minute ago and came upon this quote:

"Let what you love be what you do."

Sounds great, right? Let what you love be what you do....
After thinking about it briefly I came to the conclusion that I was really glad to be able to say THAT I DO love what I do. And it's awesome.

I play with gems all day.
I love those.
I get to hang out with my cute husband while he makes badass jewelry.
I love that.
I talk to strangers on the internet all the time about rings and being awesome.
Whats not to love there?
And most importantly I do my best to spread the Gem Steady ultra mega positive vibes.
My number one favorite thing to do.

I love it.

Applying this motto isn't as tough as some of you might be thinking. I'm not saying quit your job and ditch your family in pursuit of your dreams as a trapeze artist. No! But maybe pick up an aerial aerobics class once a week or something. If you love puppies; volunteer at the homeless dog shelter. Collect those stamps you're so smitten with. Write a song. Dust off that old guitar. Get out your oil paints and pretend to be Monet. Or Bob Ross. Or yourself doing something you love.

If you haven't read my first entry I encourage you to do so. I touch on how important gratitude is in living a happy, successful life. Being successful doesn't mean having a trillion dollars or the biggest mansion. Being successful is waking up everyday feeling great, full of gratitude, and doing what you love.

Take a few minutes after you read this and make a list of the things you love. People, places, hobbies... Then  pick one thing and figure out how you can 'do what you love' at least one time in the next seven days. Call that person you love or write them a letter. Visit that place. Revive that hobby... Nothing is too small or irrelevant as long you're loving it while you're doing it. Just sit outside in silence for a little while. Joy and happiness can come from anywhere.

This is your life. Take some time out for YOU.

Tell me what you love and what makes you happy. Comment below about how you can 'let what you love be what you do.' I'll look forward to reading your input.

See you again soon.

xoxo,

                       Brit C.

A Gem Of All Trades

Happy Friday my lovely gem steadies, intern BB here! Are you ready for this week's star stone to be revealed? This little charmer is a member of the Quartz family, is double terminated(meaning it is pointy on several ends) and it was discovered in Herkimer County New York. In case you haven’t guessed, it is the Herkimer Diamond, and wow is it a stunner with all sorts of cool powers.  These gems are quite unique, not just because of their rarity, but they can have some neat “deformations”. Sometimes Herkimers will grow in clusters and there will be various sizes within each cluster. Other times the Herkimer diamond can have a fluid inclusion, where bits of water or oil get trapped inside of the stone.
The Herkimer Diamond is a very peaceful gem, and is well known for its forgiving powers. Herkimer Diamonds can erase grudges that took a lifetime to form, and can help one to see the world in a new peaceful way.  Our pal Herkimer wants you to hold onto close, and important relationships and this gem works kind of like a friendship bracelet. Before parting ways with a loved one, each person should retain a Herkimer Diamond and it will promote telepathy between the two people. Herkimers are also said to retain information that can be retrieved at a later time.
In addition to being a peaceful attunement stone, the Herkimer Diamond is a natural pain reliever. In a way, it is sort of the Aspirin of the gem universe. Simply place your favorite Herkimer on the pain-afflicted area and let the energetic currents of the stone work some magic. Herkimers are also great for getting rid of toxins and impurities within the body. In the past they have been used to correct imbalances within DNA and they have aided cellular disorders and metabolic rate.
Going back to the Herkimer Diamond being a peaceful stone, it is a fabulous tension easer. Herkimers can bring a care free harmony to one’s self and it is a great stone for the super-stressed. Start wearing you favorite Herkimer piece to those stressful work meetings to feel a great sense of relaxation. Herkimers are very simple to use for stress relief. Simply place a Herkimer Diamond around the area facing grief, may it be your head, heart or anywhere else and let the good vibes kick in.
Have I mention the Herkimer Diamond is an amazingly beautiful stone? Honestly, this gem has a lot of great qualities and is much more affordable than a real “diamond”, so there can be a little bit of Herkimer in everyone’s life, including yours! Gem Steady currently has some stunning Herkimer pieces waiting to work wonders for your life(and look pretty wrapped around your finger).
Thank you all so much for reading! Do you have a favorite gem? Leave it in a comment below and it could be next week's gem!
Have a beautiful week my gem steadies!

Once In A Blue Moon

Hello my lovely Gem Steadies! Did you know that something spectacular is happening in the sky tonight? Peek out your windows at 9:45 pm tonight and you can see the blue moon.  You may be wondering what a blue moon is and why it is so darn special. Luckily I am prepared to tackle your most perplexing curiosities about the blue moon. The namesake of beer and a song covered by Billie Holiday, Elvis and Bob Dylan, the blue moon has been inspirational to many and is quite fascinating.
Ready for some fun blue moon facts? The moon tonight will not actually be blue. It is more likely that the blue moon will be(drum roll please)… red. That’s right, red! A haze caused by weather and atmospheric conditions can give our sweet blue moon a reddish tint.
Did you know the blue moon happens only once in a blue moon? Tonight’s blue moon will be the first in nearly three years. Most seasons have three full moons, but this season has four. Tonight’s blue moon is referred to as the third full moon in a four full moon season.
Throughout time, the blue moon has been referred to as the full red moon, the green corn moon and the full sturgeon moon.
Now, going back to our Gem Steady roots, the moonstone is especially powerful and healing during a full moon. Known as the stone of new beginnings, moonstones promote lucid dreaming, intuition, empathy and can enhance psychic ability. Moonstones are also great for creating an even temper in both men and women and can rid of emotional instabilities. If you currently possess a moonstone piece, place it near your heart tonight during the blue moon and see what feelings take over your body. Or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful view… Maybe even crack open a blue moon?
Extra, Extra: Pull out your cameras and snap some photos of the blue moon tonight and they will be added to this post!

I Just Called To Say I Love You.

Hello, people of the internet. This is Brittany Cole Stadtmiller, inventor of Gem Steady.
"Just what is Gem Steady" you might ask. "What does is mean?"
Gem Steady is many things, and the name is continually evolving. Most prevalent at the moment is the Gem Steady jewelry line. Thought tonight we are going to focus on where this thing all got started; with Life Coach Brittany C.

I've been thinking a lot lately about my previous ventures as a life coach, and wanted to make sure Gem Steady is staying true to is its roots as a positive vibe movement, while also pursuing the world of glitz, glamour, and jewels . Although I absolutely adore creating rings with my husband all day, our company stands for much more than a pile of rocks and silver.
This project has evolved substantially since it's beginnings not so long ago. Some of you may be familiar with the official definition of Gem Steady, and if you're not you can click this link right here to find out what it is.

In the past (less than a) year I have been lucky enough to meet(reunite with) and marry my amazing partner who has helped turn my made up term into more than just an adjective in the Urban Dictionary.

Together we are chasing our dreams, and step by step are paving a path and crossing off goals from our lists. I am so grateful for this, and every opportunity that has come our way this far. And I know what a difference gratitude and a positive mindset can make, and how dramatically my life changed once I grasped that concept.

That being said.....
I'd like to revive my role as Life Coach Brittany C. and offer tips on vibing to the max and feeling the best you've ever felt. I hope to post here on a regular basis and get everyone's levels on rocket level ten million.

Let's take a look at today's assignment...

I have a deck of cards with positive phrases on them. I just drew the one above randomly from the pile, and I think this is probably a good one for us to start out with. Read this to yourself a few times over and let it resonate for a minute

'I am grateful and appreciate all the abundance I have in my life today'.

Whether you're a seasoned Steady Gemmer or brand new to the art of vibing this is a good one to practice focusing on. More often than not it seems easier to complain about our problems, or dwell on situations that didn't go your way. This habit of 'venting', or talking about all the negative things in our lives does absolutely nothing to benefit us. In fact, it draws more stuff into you life to complain about. So do yourself a favor. Stop complaining and read that sentence I posted above. Take three minutes (or more) to appreciate something great you have. Did you eat today? That must've cool to have food. You're reading this right now. That probably means you have eyes. Do you have a cute dog? A friendly cat? Are you musically inclined? How many shirts do you own? What do you love?

Even if you're in the worst, most gawdawefulmood I'm sure there is at least one thing going for you. Find it. Dwell on it. And even if you hate this project; do it anyway as an experiment everyday until you've reached the hypothesis that you were wrong about hating it all along and now you feel amazing.

But seriously.

It feels great to be back as Coach Brit C and I'm gonna try my little heart out to help the universe have happy, productive, and awesome days while simultaneously slinging some seriously awesome jewels.

So. If you're into down with positive energy and flashy rocks please follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and Pintrest @gemsteady. Find me on Facebook and check out our site gemsteady.com.

Also!
Stay tuned for a brand new post by the Gem Steady intern BB all about tomorrows Blue Moon. She's going to have some fun facts  and tell us all about why this is the perfect time for new beginnings!

Thank You For Reading!
 I am grateful for YOU!

Intros And Amethyst

check out that amethyst!

Rocking rocks, rocks!
Hello ladies and gem-tlemen! My name is Brittany Barker(that's me with the serious finger candy above), but you can call me BB. I am honored and ecstatic to be a brand spankin new Gem Steady intern! Allow me to give you a small glimpse into BB’s world before we dive into a sea of jewels together. I am a 21-year-old Cincy native currently studying journalism and fashion at UC. My uncanny wit almost exceeds my love for music and kittens. My favorite guilty pleasures are bacon, vintage clothing, 70’s pop music, drawing obscure creatures, Jillian Michaels’ workout DVD’s and mojitos.
Now enough about boring old me, lets talk about some purple rocks that will really knock your socks off! You may know my darling little friend amethyst as the purple stunner of the quartz family, however the power of amethyst stretches beyond its beauty.
Amethyst promotes tranquility, is a natural stress reliever and wards off negative energy. Simply placing your favorite amethyst piece under your pillow or rubbing it across your forehead could aide in relaxation and calm the entire body. Amethyst is said to target the endocrine system, which is a series of glands that distribute hormones throughout the entire body. The endocrine system also controls mood and the desire to sleep among many other important bodily functions.
In addition to amethyst’s relaxation benefits, it has been used throughout history to prevent overindulgence and it promotes purity. Ancient Greeks and Romans drank from amethyst goblets to prevent intoxication. Tired of being the person who wipes out on the dance floor before midnight? Slip on a little amethyst before your next night on the town. Stay tuned to learn more about the amazing healing power of your favorite gems!
