Fantastic Fluorite

Happy Tuesday from Gem Steady! Time is just flying by this year; I can’t believe Valentine’s Day is this Friday! This week we’ll be discussing one of the most unique gems in the world. The beautiful gem can be found in a number of colors and an unlimited combination of colors making each stone unique. This week’s post will be focusing on the fabulous Fluorite!

Without further adieu let’s jump right into what everyone’s interested in, this gem’s amazing healing ability! Fluorite can help you establish a positive energy by absorbing and neutralizing negative vibrations. Fluorite is widely believed to have a calming effect on your body. It is also associated with the Fourth Chakra, or the Heart Chakra.

It is no surprise that this amazing gem is known to some as the Genius Stone. Fluorite can help to increase your concentration and assist you in decision-making. Fluorite can also assist in creating an opening for the powers of other stones to affect you. It is also used in meditation because it helps to energize the body and raises the power of your concentration. Fluorite is also believed to aid in joint pain caused by arthritis.

This awesome gem was named in 1797 by Carlo Antonio Galeani Napione after the Latin word fluere, which means to flow. Additionally, even the term fluorescence comes from Fluorite because it often exhibits the effect. The element of fluorine is also derived from Fluorite, which is one of the major sources for the element. Fluorite can be found around the world in a number of countries including Canada, America, Peru, England, China, Thailand, and South Africa.

Fluorite has a huge range of possible colors including blue, pink, purple, green and yellow. In fact, the ancient Egyptians used Fluorite to carve some of their statues. Additionally, they would even create some scarabs out of Fluorite. Further to the east, the Chinese have been using Fluorite to create carvings for centuries.

One of the most interesting parts of this gem’s history occurred around the 18th Century when it was ground into a power and mixed with water to relieve some of the symptoms of kidney disease. Another interesting aspect of Fluorite’s history occurred much earlier in ancient Rome. They used to believe that drinking alcohol from cups carved out of Fluorite would prevent drunkenness.
